Of all the painting that were stolen from the Kunsthal museum in Rotterdam, I lament these the most.
And it is a impressionistic irony that, while trying to burn their bridges behind them, the Romanian thieves ended up burning some of the most beautiful bridge paintings ever made, Monet’s Waterloo and Charing Cross bridges, both painted in 1901. Sadly, an actual point of no return.
